2013 Lexus GS at Woodfield Lexus

In baseball, scouts are always on the lookout for the elusive five-tool player—someone who can hit for average, hit for power, run the bases, throw the ball, and play defense in the field—but finding an athlete that well-rounded is pretty rare. Along those same lines, in the automotive world a lot of designers are happy if their vehicles are either luxurious, comfortable, or sporty, but rarely are they all three. The new and completely redesigned 2013 Lexus GS, however, is all three, making it the car equivalent of a five-tool player. We here at Woodfield Lexus are looking forward to stocking our lots with this edgy yet lavish large luxury car, mostly because we think it can do a little bit of everything and satisfy just about any customer that walks into our building.
There's only one model in the GS stable—the 350—but we've got premium, luxury, and F-Sport packages available for drivers with all sorts of varying needs. The complete overhaul of the fourth generation of this vehicle spilled over from design to engine. At 19/28 mpg, we love the peppy and more fuel efficient V6 engine in place.
The new V6 combines direct injection and port fuel injection to produce a sturdy 306 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Customers are free to choose from the standard rear-wheel drive format or an all-wheel version, and in the F-Sport version we've added more solid springs, variable-speed steering, and several other features for top-notch handling. The bottom line is that the new version of the GS 350 has done everything possible to improve efficiency without having to sacrifice power. It's a fine line to walk, but we feel like the new generation of GS walks it pretty well.
The 2013 GS is also loaded with tons of great safety features. In today's world, we're allowed to be impressed if a vehicle boasts seven airbags, but the GS actually packs a total of 10 of them. This, combined with standard antilock brakes, makes for a pretty safe vehicle.
Optional safety upgrades include things like pre-collision, which uses alerts and emergency steering to help minimize damage in case of an accident; blind-spot monitoring, which sets off alerts if you start moving into a line where someone else is already driving; and lane departure systems, which work to keep drivers from drifting out of their lanes due to sleepiness or distraction. All of these measures help ensure the safety of the families using our vehicles, and we're proud of the new technologies that have come along to make our cars safer than ever.
The 2013 Lexus GS introduces a new design language that will eventually carry over to the rest of our vehicles as well, so it's a good thing that we're such big fans of the new look. That hourglass grille, in particular, is extremely fetching. This isn't just the next generation of the GS; it's the beginning of the next generation of Lexus, and we'd love to have you come on down to Woodfield Lexus to check one out in person. After all, it's not every day you find a vehicle with this many "tools," just like it's not every day scouts find five-tool prospects. Something this good and this well-rounded just doesn't come around that often.
