2019 Lexus UX: A First Look

March 6th, 2018 by

Here at Woodfield Lexus, we know that it can be difficult to keep up with the rapidly expanding lineup of Lexus crossover SUVs. The automaker is constantly innovating and putting out new variations on its core lineup of vehicles, such as the three-row 2018 Lexus RX and the two-row 2018 Lexus LX. However, the vehicle that Lexus enthusiasts such as ourselves are keeping our eyes on is the upcoming 2019 Lexus UX. Some key details about this new Lexus SUV were just unveiled, and this compact crossover appears to be on its way to a permanent place in the Lexus lineup.

The 2019 Lexus UX will be a stylish compact crossover SUV with the signature spindle grille, a full-width taillight design, and either 17-inch or 18-inch wheels. Compared to the similar small crossover SUV the 2018 Lexus NX, the new Lexus UX will be even smaller in terms of length and wheelbase. The small size will translate to excellent maneuverability and a tight turning radius, attracting young urban drivers near Chicago, IL. This new SUV will also be the first Lexus car to sit on the new Lexus platform known as GA-C. Also known as Global Architecture-Compact, this new platform will help the new Lexus UX achieve the lowest center of gravity of any vehicle in its class.

In terms of engines, there will be available versions of the 2019 Lexus RX: a traditional inline-four-cylinder engine, as well as an available hybrid. The hybrid will pair the 2.0-liter engine with a nickel-metal-hydride battery and motor system to create a total of 176 horsepower.
